All the best stories and adventures start with a knock at the door…
…or the thwump of a dragon’s tail at the entrance to her cave, in the case of Emba Oak. But then nothing about Emba’s story is normal, from the scales on her arms and legs to the shocking discovery that she hatched out of a dragon’s egg. Even more shocking is the news that an evil sorcerer is after her dragon blood and will do anything to get it… including kidnapping Emba’s guardian, Fred, the keeper of the Tome of Terrible Tomorrows. |
EMBA OAK AND THE TERRIBLE TOMORROWS

GENRE: FANTASY
I was lucky enough to visit the amazing Fantasy exhibition at the Museum of Pop Culture in Seattle, which is where these photos are from. It's a great introduction to the fantasy genre and even has its own resident dragon!
I particularly liked the poster listing typical fantasy characters.
How many have you come across in fantasy books?
How many can you spot in Emba Oak and the Terrible Tomorrows?
Do some characters fit more than one category?
Which would you include if you were creating your own fantasy?
Can you think of some fantastical character names to match their role?
